One of the requirements to starting a charity is to file all of the proper paperwork. Being new to the charity space, I had a lot of leaning to do. There were a few different steps and fees that I was unaware of. After figuring out all of the proper steps, we finally received the nonprofit status we were seeking. I was under the impression that there were people waiting for a certified charity to donate to and that the funding would immediately come in. I was very very wrong. I ended up using most of my savings to get the ball rolling here because people need help now.
